The Beginning
There have been 2 distinct and difficult moments on our journey with Mira’s diagnosis.
The first was RECEIVING the news, which I covered in “Our Miracle."
The second, has been SHARING the news. This part has been equally as difficult. When we first received Mira’s diagnosis, I wasn’t prepared to repeat the words. I froze. I got too emotional to even speak. I decided to let my thoughts sink in, compose myself, and then compose an email. We informed our family and closest friends of our recent news all in writing. That email for me was a way of communicating clear, honest information without having to scratch at a wound every time someone asked me “how are you feeling?' That email for me was therapy.
The feedback we received was nothing short of incredible. We realized we were surrounded by an army of people who love, care and will always support us. For that, we are forever grateful.
So…now you’re a blogger?
No, I’m a mother. A mother who has chosen to open up our journey to anyone who cares. Anyone who is curious and has questions. Anyone who wants updates and wants to see pictures of a ridiculously cute baby.
Truthfully, I struggled with the decision to open up our story to others. A part of me pushes to write about it, and another part pulls to keep the doors closed. As her mother, I want to protect Mira, but I also know the importance of advocating for her, and for any other child who may be different.
Our family has been catapulted into a world we knew NOTHING about. As we learn more about Mira and Dwarfism we would like to share it with anyone who wants to listen.
Welcome to our journey!
